Classification by criteria:

-Fastest zip lines in the world, Zipline world Records:

First place goes to the Tirolina Ordesa Pirineos – in June 2021 it set a speed record of 189 km/h (189 mph). With a distance of almost 2 km and a difference in altitude of 400 mis located at the entrance of the Ordesa National Park and is the option most complete in terms of views, elevation, speed and distance in Europe. In addition, together with the Highground zip line in Nepal, they are the only ones that allow reaching the braking station in both seated and lying position.

2- Rocamassima zip line (Italy) – official speed record of 172 km/h. For its combination of distance and speed, we rank it third on our list.

3- ZIP2000 zip line (South Africa) – maximum speed of 160 km/h, it is said that they reached 185 km/h, although there is no official certification of this milestone. With a unique design, although the pendulum brake experience can be tedious, we believe that the feeling of speed and the «wild atmosphere» deserve the fourth place.

-Longest zip lines in the world:

Jebel Jais Zip Line (United Arab Emirates) – Guinness World Record for the longest zip line in the world at 2800 m. With a spectacular design, it arrives on a floating platform supported by tow ropes. The catenary at the end makes it necessary to pick up part of the clients, which detracts from the end of the experience.

Zip Rider Zip Line, Barrancas del Cobre (Mexico) – with a length of 2554 m, its distance and the place it runs through place it in fifth place, although we believe it would be better if the speed of arrival were higher.

In summary, our ranking of the 10 best zip lines in the world in 2021 is based on a combination of criteria such as distance, speed, elevation gain, scenery and user experience. The Tirolina Ordesa Pirineos tops the list for being the fastest zip line in the world with a record set in 2021, in addition to its impressive combination of views, slope, speed and distance.

It is followed by the Jebel Jais Zip Line in the United Arab Emirates for being the longest zip line in the world and for its spectacular design that reaches a floating platform. Zip Flyer Pokhara Zip Line in Nepal ranks third in our ranking, being a strong and unforgettable experience in the majestic Annapurna mountain range.

In fourth place is the Rocamassima zip line in Italy, officially registering a speed of 172 km/h and for its combination of distance and speed.

The Zip2000 Zip Line in South Africa ranks fifth for its unique design and sense of speed.

The sixth position is for the Zip Rider Zip Line in Barrancas del Cobre in Mexico.

Tirolina El Monstruo in Puerto Rico in seventh place. The Les Arcs Zip Line in France is in eighth place, followed by the Verbier Zip Line in Switzerland in ninth place.

Finally, we leave the tenth position up to the reader’s choice, offering a link to a ranking done by Redbull in 2017 for inspiration.

In short, this ranking of the best zip lines in the world in 2021 reflects the importance of the user experience, combined with the beauty and spectacular scenery, as well as the combination of speed, distance and slope to offer an unforgettable experience.

-Longest zip lines in Europe:

-Rocamassima Tyrolean traverse (Rome, Italy). 2300m.

-Ordesa Pyrenees-Fuentespalda-Zip 2000m

-Highest and steepest zip lines in the world.

9-Tirolina Verbier (Switzerland), 3305masl . Located in the Swiss Alps, with an infinite beauty. Its design and location are impressive.

8-Tiroline Les Arcs (Alpes France) 2700masl . Located in front of Mont Blanc, on the vertical km run where the world ski record was broken. Its privileged location and its 700m drop, with 1700m of distance, make it possibly the zip line with the highest acceleration in the world, with descent in self-braking cars. The scenery and speed stand out from similar zip lines that already exist.

3-HighGround Zipflyer in Nepal, with 1800 m of distance and 600 m of vertical drop. With the majestic Anapurna mountain range, this zip line offers a strong and unforgettable sensation. In our opinion, it deserves the third place, although it does not exceed in distance, speed or elevation gain to others that are above it. The partially user-actuated braking system may prevent the user from fully focusing on enjoying the descent. Still, it deserves to be on the podium of our list of the 10 best zip lines in the world.

-Highest zip lines in Spain:

-Ordesa Pyrenees Zip Line, 1200 masl.

-Hoz Jaca Zip Line, 1186 masl.

-Tirolina Fuentespalda, 950 meters above sea level.
